Exchanging Ideas & Facilitating Policy Research
***PLEASE NOTE - Due to planned building renovations, IRIS will be unable to accept Visiting Scholars until 2009. We enjoy having Visiting Scholars at IRIS and look forward to continuing this program as soon as possible. Please check this page periodically for updates on when IRIS will again start accepting applications.
Program Overview
The IRIS Visiting Scholar Program was created to facilitate the exchange of ideas and to encourage collaborative policy research among IRIS faculty and policy-implementing scholars on topics related to the institutional economics of development.
The program is designed for professionals well into their careers, who desire the time and opportunity to reflect on, conduct research, and write about their areas of expertise in a rigorous and scholarly way. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact and to conduct collaborative research with experts at the University of Maryland as well as in and around Washington, DC, on topics related to their fields of interest.
Visiting Scholars will also have the possibility to attend university courses and seminars, and have access to IRIS faculty who will be available to act as research advisors. The IRIS Visiting Scholar Program provides its participants with unique avenues for disseminating their experience and lessons learned to the wider development community.
