Description
The IRIS Center at the University of Maryland, an advisory and research center addressing legal and economic policy reform and aid effectiveness in developing and transition countries, seeks qualified, experienced specialists with backgrounds in regulatory reform and administrative simplification for current and future work for various donors.
IRIS is specifically interested in attracting and working with top-flight experts with experience in business process reengineering and administrative simplification generally, business registration reform, streamlining of licensing and permitting procedures and establishment and automation of single-window procedures therefor, inspections reform, regulatory impact analysis, and public-private consultative mechanisms for prioritizing and drafting legislative and regulatory proposals.
IRIS is especially interested in specialists with substantive expertise in comparative permitting and inspections regimes, e.g., those concerning construction, labor, health, and product safety.
Qualifications
Interested applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and an advanced degree in law, economics, business, engineering, public administration, or other relevant field. Prior consulting experience with USAID, the World Bank, and/or FIAS, as well as familiarity and direct project experience with the World Bank’s Doing Business indicators, a plus.
