Georgia Rule of Law Project Resource Center Working with Georgian NGOs and legal experts, IRIS’s Rule of Law project identifies and implements specific reforms to make administrative and legal processes more transparent and thus more democratically accountable.
Project activities include:- Raising public awareness of new legal rights and institutions
- Allocating grants for local human rights and criminal defense organizations
- Implementing new administrative procedures to protect citizens from arbitrary state actions
- Providing direct assistance to the legislative process
- Providing high-quality legal information and training to the public, legal profession and the government
- Supporting anti-corruption efforts
IRIS’s prior work in Georgia included supporting the country’s successful application to join the World Trade Organization. |

To inform land owners of their rights under the Freedom of Information provisions of the General Administrative Code, the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) conducted a town hall meeting near the city of Gori. GYLA is an IRIS project grantee.
