Geetha Nagarajan Research Director |

Dr. Nagarajan is Research Director at the IRIS Center, serving as Economist and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. She is currently the Research Director for the Financial Services Assessment project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Project Director for the Islamic Microfinance pilot project to develop Sharia-compliant financial services. She is also Monitoring and Evaluation Director for a USAID project to support orphans and vulnerable children with economic strengthening initiatives.
Dr. Nagarajan is a highly experienced researcher, advisory assistance provider, and author of several peer reviewed publications. She has worked in 21 developing countries in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. Dr. Nagarajan has evaluated economic development programs, and conducted field based research to identify causes of poverty to design policy and programs to address them, especially in conflict and disaster affected environments. An expert in small and micro-enterprise development and microfinance, she has a wide range of experience in developing, measuring, and implementing activities to ensure program effectiveness to reach the target population. Before joining IRIS, she was consulting for USAID, Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Inter American Development Bank, ILO, FAO, UNDP, Ford Foundation, and Citigroup foundation. |
